ABOUT ME

My name is Rebecca Reed, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I recently relocated to North Carolina from Anchorage, Alaska, where much like North Carolina, I provided clinical services to a very diverse population coming from both urban and rural environments.

EXPERTISE

I have clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families with a wide array of mental health concerns and from various socioeconomic backgrounds. I have experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, emotional regulation, life changes, legal issues, confidence or self-esteem, substance misuse, survivors of trauma, relationship distress, and family conflict. I am also an LGBTQ+ ally. I also have experience working with individuals who have been involved in the Criminal Justice System and overcoming the challenges that transitioning back into the community can have on individuals and their families. My clients have described me as an extrovert, high energy, easy to talk to, compassionate, genuine, and committed to helping others.

COUNSELING APPROACHES

As humans, we are complex beings, so the quality of our well-being is connected to our physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual health. When life throws us off balance, we struggle to make time to appreciate the beauty and humor in life and the people around us. Often when faced with life challenges, we know the answer to the problem, but we become so overwhelmed that change seems impossible, or we don’t know where or how to start.

Allow me to use my knowledge, skills, and abilities to not only encourage, but empower you to achieve and maintain the goals that you set for yourself. In return, I will provide you a safe and supportive environment in which for you to open honestly about challenges you are facing in your life. When you share your personal story with me, it allows me to use my tools and expertise to help give you the guidance that builds confidence in your ability to make changes and overcome barriers that are preventing you from living your best life.

I use an eclectic approach meaning that I customize therapy to fit your needs and empower you to make changes that will help you to achieve your goals. I utilize evidenced-based psychotherapy and interventions, which primarily consist of approaches from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Trauma Informed Theories.
